For the last year or so, the amazing free PDF-XChange viewer has included a pretty good OCR option. ![]() However, the technology to look through an image and recognize the letters and words is very difficult. We normally don't want a picture of it, because a picture is a single unit. Perhaps, we'd like to be able to edit it, fill in a form, or copy and paste some of it to a word processor. We'd like to be able to find things inside the document. However, when we scan to PDF, we usually want to have searchable text. It is just like any other picture just a big image. ![]() ![]() If you scan a document to PDF, what you will get is a picture of a page, just as you would if you scanned to JPG or took a picture of it with a digital camera.
